Unit flags of the Yugoslavia People's Army - Images by
Ivan Sarajčić, 28 May 1999
Upper row: left, National Guard units; right, Infantry units
Lower row: left, Naval units; right, Proletarian units
The images shown above were made according to Military
Lexicon and personal experience.
These flags were in use for military parades, during the recruits'
allegiance ceremony and in other solemn occasions.
The Cyrillic inscription on the obverse of the flags says: "For freedom and independence / of
Socialist fatherland". The reverse of the flags has the same inscription, but in
Latin rendition of Serbo-Croat/Croato-Serb.
These designs follow the common layout of the various military flags
of Yugoslavia People's Army, possibly from its beginning (Second
World War).
